I was wondering if there are any full-time employed Linux administrators who also do Linux consulting part-time. If so, how does it work out? Is it feasible? How to get started and how to find clients?
While I'm happy with my full-time employment, the thought of trying consulting has been itching my mind for a while. However, being the only homestead supporter with a stay-at-home wife and a toddler I can't leave the corporate world, go on my own, and hope for the best. So my goal is to try and combine both if possible.
Bit of background: I've been working full-time in Linux administration for the past ten years. I'm RHCSA, getting RHCE this Spring. 99% of my experience is based on RH/CentOS on bare metal and in virtual environments (VMWare, Xen). I have a lot of experience with both remote support and hands-on datacenter work.
