By mistake I bought a server with no CD/DVD drive, so I'm being forced to install CentOS over PXE.
I'm not a Linux Admin by trade technically, but I work with it a lot at work and I like to tinker and play with things at home, which is where this server is and why I'm here asking about this.
I'm doing this on my home network. I currently have an ASUS router which I don't want to take off of being the dhcp server just to setup the PXE. I'm considering getting another router/switch to set this up off of my network. What I imagine doing is taking an old laptop I have, installing CentOS on it, setting that up as the dhcp server and the PXE.
What issues will I run into this way when I go to put the server back on my home network? Can I do this with just a switch and my older laptop?
From what I've read it sounds like what I want to do will work, but I'm just trying to see if there are any nuances I should be aware of.
