[CentOS] Is there a way to change settings in /etc/hosts without restarting network services?

So localhost was set up incorrectly in the /etc/hosts file for a load balancer at work.

I'd like to update the file OOW without dropping connection. I understand that CentOS reads /etc/hosts at boot or network service start/restart and stores the information in cache.

Is there a way to get it to dump that cache and read the file again without disrupting networking?
