Hello folks.
I am posting this here not because I need to learn something about syntax or how puppet works. This is a question that looks to draw from your experience.
I was going through the premade postgresql module and it looks to be very comprehensive. From my past experience with installing/upgrading/migrating postgres databases that were residing in about 30 servers, we could have easily get away with writing our own module to meet our specific needs/environment and it would have been much more simple.
For example all of our servers were Centos. As a result we would need to worry about differences in releases with Centos. No need to worry about Fedora, Windows, Debian, Suse and forth.
At any rate, do you use premade modules even though from what you can tell you will not be using most of the features it provides? Why would you use such an elaborate module if you knew exactly what you want to do to deploy your database servers?
