Self studying for RHCE, a question about NFSv4

I've tested this with SL 6.0 and CentOS 6.2. If I put say "/home *(rw)" in exports, and start the NFS server, open up JUST tcp 2049 (nothing else), I can mount it over NFS4. I don't have to run rpcbind on either the host or the client, it just works. I can also see the subfolders. How come I keep reading that I should be binding it to a pseudo share, that I can't share "real folders". (Ubuntu NFSv4 Howto). It seems to me that the NFS section of the RHCE test is going to be much simpler than people make it out to be. Am I not right? If I am, please tell me before I take the exam! Thanks
