Linux Antivirus

Hello all. Our security department is determined to install real time protection antivirus on our Linux servers (mainly web and app servers. No mailgates or file servers ). IMO it is going to have a huge performance impact and offer little to no benefit. Does anyone know of any studies that show what percentage of malware out there specifically targets Linux (not windows via Linux)? I know it's a miniscule amount but can't seem to find a report showing so.
