Setup
Two Windows domains with no trust other than DNS records, connected via Sonicwall VPNs. No firewall between the OpenFire machines for testing purposes.
Domain, derp.local & herpderp.local
Both servers can ping each other & see each other. I have the correct DNS records (as far as I know - I noticed that the Spark IM client requests a lot more DNS records than people say you need). OpenFire is bound to Active Directory.
I can login in to the opposite site's OpenFire instance.
(e.g. from derp.local, I can login to the openfire instance on herpderp.local)
I'm not really sure what I'm missing at this point, and I've been banging my head on this project for some time. I'm looking for any suggestions or advice I can get.
For reference, the OpenFire server in derp.local is a Linux Ubuntu box, while the server in herpderp.local is a Windows 2008r2 box. They are both running 3.6.0. Is s2s broken in this version or something? Should I be looking at a different solution such as Lync? I've had such a nightmare with something seemingly so simple :(
