Being pretty new to the Sysadmin game (my previous job, which I loathed, was as an investment analyst at a big international bank - now officially a "Trainee Linux Systems Engineer") I'm not too sure about what I should be doing to develop my career. I work with one other sysadmin in the software engineering lab of a digital media agency in London, and have been here for about five months.
I really feel like I'm starting to get a grip on the day-to-day routine stuff, so I have time on my hands to learn about specialist things. We work in an Ubunut environment with AWS, VMWare, Salt, Docker etc, so I know a little about all of them, but I don't know to what extent these things are viable in the long term.
Does anybody have any advice on things to look at for a relatively wet behind the ears sysadmin?
