I have a team that insists on using the "Desktop" install for RHEL (5 and 6) because they need a place to leave foreground terminal windows running. Let's not argue here about the other/better ways to handle this requirement. I'd like to end up giving them just x windows and they can run whatever terminals they want.
What things can and should be turned off? Pulseaudio daemon? avahi?
