Long story short, I'm a Windows admin who has an opportunity to move into a different position - it may not involve a ton of Linux knowledge, but I've had a discussion with the hiring manager and he just wants me to know "a little bit about Linux" by the time he hires me, so he can justify it. He knows that I don't know anything about it.
The enterprise in question runs various versions of Red Hat. I think what would be most useful is knowing how to get Red Hat running and configured, possibly just with CLI. I literally only have a couple days to cram some basic knowledge in, and I'm starting with zilch.
Any suggestions on the best way to approach this, or the best resource to use? I'm thinking of firing up some kind of VM environment and just pounding against it until I have Red Hat up and running and networked... but perhaps that's naive of me.
I saw this but I'm not sure I have the hardware needed for messing with that.
