Best way to go about setting up small business server?

I think this is the right subreddit if not please direct me to one that would be more suitable.

I am looking to setup a server for a small business that will have at most a dozen employees. Any advice or readings I should take a look at, how to decide on hardware, software, and server tools that will allow clients to easily leverage the server.
