On my desktop I run pidgin, and I have my gmail accounts added so that I can easily talk to all my friends, as i'm sure most of you do.
Recently I've started noticing that you can hover over peoples names, and it will tell you what client they are using. If you have friends using the gtalk app on their android cell phone, this shows up as (android12345) or some other variation of numbers.
Now, most of these friends are always away, but I have come to notice that whenever they check their messages, email, or generally use their phone, they come from an away status to an available status. This means that anyone that sits for long periods of time at their computer, like most admins do, will know exactly when someone is messing with their phone. This can be extended to know when they checked a text, email, or other various uses of their phone.
Shouldn't the gtalk app default to stay as "away" until you explicitly tell it to, or am I just ultra paranoid.
