Advice for CS graduate about career decision

I am currently doubting my decision about starting a career as a linux sys admin . Other graduates tell me that I am wasting my time studying cs because of my career decision since it is a dying career and does not require cs bachelor.

I know I should not care since I can't think of a situation in the near future when administration can get fully automated without any engineers troubleshooting and keeping systems error free. Still most of my free time I dedicated in working with linux and running my own virtual lab, keeping my small infrastructure in check and testing out different services. Before I automated most tasks either with Saltstack in combination with docker I scripted most parts with bash and or python.

I love working with linux, scripting, programming and using different tools to automate infrastructure.

But is it still worth to be a linux sys admin or should I instead try to start a career in devops since I like working with different tools and automation? I am anxious since last I checked I did not see that many career positions for juniors.

Thank you for your replies
