Microsoft tend to quite often recall patches that break windows.
Are there any statistics on this and brokedness of patches for RHEL and other distros somewhere?
This can help out chosing your patch strategy if you know the overall quality of the released patches. I mean, if you have a distro where 7/10 patches are badly engineered you might need to babysit every server more carefully when applying patches.
If 99.7% of the patches dont cause any problems, you can update hundreds of test/prod/whatever servers without having to risk fixing every single one of them manually.
Of course, shit can always happen to any distro but its a rough estimate. Ubuntu has gotten lot better, but I still trust RHEL way more.
