I work for a fairly hated web hosting company currently as a tier 1/2 support rep. With full root access. I got an offer from another company featuring better benefits more pay and other good incentives, closer to home, can actually take a bus etc. current job is doing role solidification and my managers have me pegged for a Linux admin position when we get final approval on roles and pay from HR. Today our stocks fell 25% so now I'm worried if I try to stay and hold out for the admin position I might not have it in 6 months. Really torn between taking new job as tier 1 or holding out for the actual Linux admin title and pay. The benefits at the new place are really good and friends who have gone over have said its tight but I am a loyal person but am tired of waiting. It's only a few more weeks for this role solidification but there's no guarantees on the table yet. Do I start over as tier 1 support at new place or should I hold out a bit longer and probably not get the job at the new place if I turn it down now and apply again later. I'm so torn.
Edit: thank y'all for the feedback it is greatly appreciated. I'm going to try to see if I can get a guarantee position tomorrow in my meeting with the GM and a guaranteed pay rate effective immediately. If they can't do it Or won't then I'm definitely going to the new place.
