Simplifying Server Provisioning and Administration - which product(s) are best?

I oversee a small datacenter (30 servers running Oracle Linux). I need a simple solution to handle the basics:

  • Provision new servers into our Hyper-V environment
  • Set, Manage and Control configurations (ntp, passwd, groups, nsswitch etc)
  • Rebuild servers with specific roles quickly, from scratch

I tested Puppet and was able to get my config files somewhat under control, but still had to manually install server OS and Puppet agent etc.

I've just set up Spacewalk and it seems to be able to help me control my package upgrade cycles, and has limited config file management, and possibly provisioning?

My question is, there are SO MANY projects out there for this kind of thing: Ansible, Salt, Puppet, Katello, Cobbler, Foreman, etc

What would more experienced Sysadmins recommend for a basic setup at a small datacenter?
