Hi all,
I'm doing a POC of spacewalk to bring our linux boxes under some kind of central update control. We are primarily a windows house so the idea is roughly 'windows updates for linux servers' as far as what I'm telling management.
So I've setup my spacewalk server, I've setup my centos7 channel, I've synced the 9000ish centos 7 packages to my spacewalk server and I've checked in my test system and subscribed it to the base channel.
My problem is, the system reports with a green tick in the systems tab. I have
system | updates | errata | packages | configs | crashes | base channel | entitlement |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
testbox | big-green-tick | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | Company_Centos7 | Management |
now if I do a yum update on the box itself I see
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, rhnplugin This system is receiving updates from RHN Classic or Red Hat Satellite. Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * base: mirror.sitbv.nl * extras: mirror.cj2.nl * updates: mirror.cj2.nl Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package NetworkManager.x86_64 1:1.0.6-29.el7_2 will be updated
and that continues out with about 49 packages being ready for upgrade.
It feels like I'm missing something really obvious here, but I'm expecting that I would see something in my web gui about 49 packages being ready for upgrade. This is my first time dealing with spacewalk, but it doesn't seem that complicated, so I must be misunderstanding something.
edit: I've done both rhn_check and rhn-profile-sync and rebooted the spacewalk server just to see if this changes the situation, but it does not.
