Hosting Environments

Are there a lot of people that work in hosting? I recently started a new job at a hosting company & I'm looking for advice in terms of common issues, experiences/expectations & what to look out for. I know every environment is different & some companies share how they do things & some don't (I really do wish more companies followed Stack Exchange's lead in something like this)...

With that said, is there anyone that works in hosting that really likes it? The sense of scale is quite different than my previous environment where I was mostly a Windows Sysadmin. I find that, at a quick glance, instead of having to answer users face to face, it's just changed where I'm answering tickets, lose the face to face interaction & the quality of the questions will vary. If you came from a Windows environment & into hosting, do you have any advice for an individual like me?

I'm also curious as to how strict companies are in the hosting space in terms of NDAs, what their stack is like, etc. I feel like there's only a certain number of ways to skin a cat & a lot of the methodology of doing these things "right" can only vary so much. Am I wrong?
