I would like to write long term backups to Bluray discs and I have a hard time separating my data into the write size chunks.
Right now I use the xorriso suite to interact with the ISOs and the drive and I used dirsplit so get an optimal table of contents for the disc. There is a few glitches and a lot to be desired from dirsplit. If it is the best option, I would have to extend or reimplement the functionality in another program.
I was thinking about creating a tar or dar file and spiting it but I am not sure I can recover from a split archive without reassembling the whole archive first.
Should I be encrypting the archive or the media?
