Media hell. Or, a first world problem FTW.

I need advice on what media software you use. Typically, I only play media files. However, my library is getting to the point where it needs to be managed. And once its managed, I'd like an easy way to display it on my Google TV or projection screen. I now use VLC for playing files, with my laptop connected to my TV via VGA cable, and that works, for the most part, but I'm looking for a real solution. Any help would be appreciated.
