VMSTAT interpretation.

In the VMSTAT man page I see here it says:

"The first report produced gives averages since the last reboot. Addi- tional reports give information on a sampling period of length delay. The process and memory reports are instantaneous in either case."

I feel like this could be read 2 ways.

1. Each time i run this without any further switches it will give me average usage since the last reboot.

or

1. If I ever run this even once after i start up the server it no longer reports and average.

Does anyone know which is the case?
