If you could start a new network for a medium enterprise what would you use? Eg: software like freeipa, dovecot/postfix, pfsense, spacewalk, etc maybe a network engineer might want to chip in a simple/smart network topology.
The scope is nothing special. Email server, data storage including backup, authentication server, domain controller, dhcp, transparent proxy, dns, firewall, etc. feel free to add what you like. I like the idea of starting from scratch so software like nagios and spacewalk are a standard.
The idea of this is so we could have the discussion of why you would/wouldn't use certain software or even alternatives and their pros and cons in an environment which may be similar to those we work in.
The choice is yours.
