I have seen many people obsessed with aligning SAN disks to 2Mb or if it was 2 Mib (at least on EMC san) on physical linux machines , but I have never seen any evidence that this actually makes any difference the last few years.
Most blogs that I have encountered talk about this is either extremely old or keeps rehashing other blogs but doesn't really present any evidence in the end.
Now it is 2016, do I still have to care about aligning my SAN disks to achieve best possible perfomance, for i.e oracle databases? Is this not automatic yet?
Also, I'm not sure if the lvm.conf option data_alignment_detection does this job or not.
