Hi all. Helping out a friends business who was running Linux (web app and NFS shares) and a win2k8 install (legacy Windows app) in Virtualbox. He recently acquired a supermicro 1u dual xeon server with space for 3 disks and has asked me to set things up from scratch. Being a fan of proxmox I want to install it but not sure what would be the best way given the disk setup. The sever has 3 identical 2tb wd red's and AFAIK, the supermicro has a hardware raid controller. Given my previous bad experiences recovering from hardware raid (when mainboard's die) my options would be:
- 1 disk for proxmox and mdadm raid 1 for the backup
- mdadm proxmox over 2 disks and one disk for backup
I know proxmox doesn't "officially" support mdadm but again, it is my preference over hardware raid.
Would love to hear any suggestions/arguments :)
Thanks!
