I've been making a script to set things up a bit and wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing anything too stupid. It doesn't matter too much if the script isn't going to work on every type of system or whatnot at the mo as I'm only using this for my personal use on *buntu's. I'm not going about a workplace or anywhere else with this script!

I'm wondering about some of the methods in that script, here are some explanations / things I'm not so sure about (though I imagine I've probably missed those that are most obvious)

I had to install emacs from source as the version in apt was too old for Magit

Should I be installing programmes and symlinking things from the same file? In a way its handy because it's all in one, but I'm not sure if this is going to get a bit unwieldy quite quickly... Not sure what the best approach here is.

So yeah, would be cool to get any tips on this. I know it's probably quite basic, but it seems admin related.
