Hi guys,
First off, pardon my inexperience - I'm not usually working with Linux and so my skills are quite lacking in this aspect!
Basically, we've got a webserver here running essentially LAMP with CentOS as the chosen distro. We've got a few users that have been created by a client and therefore do not know their passwords. These users have been assigned folders on the site that the admin user doesn't have access to - I've checked the permissions and sure enough, the folders are locked down to their respective users, and not the 'wheel' group (which the admin user is a member of). Annoyingly, I don't know the password for root so couldn't log in as root, only the admin user.
I've just used 'passwd' to reset the passwords for each user so that I can force access, but I'm pretty sure this is a hamfisted way to do things owing to my inexperience and urgency placed on this task... what would be your solution to fix this?
Cheers guys.. and sorry for what is probably a really stupid question!
