Explain your environment

I'm looking to get a better understanding of the Linux environment as far as structure is concerned. Do you have a team? How many? Do you have a couple of Nix guys, a couple of Windows guys, some network guys, etc? As an admin do you associate with the other teams on the regular or are you mostly dolo? Do you use Nagios as your monitoring tool? I'd definitely appreciate any help you guys could give. I'm just getting my foot in the door but would like some guidance.
