A Questions about Rsyslog/TLS

I currently have the task to set up a rsyslog environment with TLS encryption for testing purpose. I was able to do everything and it works fine. Now how can I ensure that the connection is actually encrypted. I captured some packets with tcpdump and was not able to read it and when I disable tls it show it in clear text so I guess it works, but I'm looking for a way that's more "business" compatible.
