How do you all manage your home networks?

I have more than a few machines at home, I'm sure we all do. With gadgets I have 14 IP addresses just in my living room.

I'm trying to cut down the space and power used at home and thinking of using a cloud provider of some sort to run some stuff instead. I have a decently reliable 50/10Mbps unlimited cable connection.

I'm thinking of stuff like a small fileserver (I'm not into torrenting or video editing so don't have 100's of GBs here), an OMD install to monitor my stuff and my parents PCs at their houses, OwnCloud, occasional home lab stuff, that sort of thing.

What do you all do? Run everything at home and VPN in from wherever you are? Everything in the cloud? Some sort of split?
