docker patching

So, I don't really get docker or how it can help my environment.

For instance right now we can patch apache by running yum and it pulls the latest version from our local repo. This is very quick and very easy.

If I put it in a docker container, don't I have to go build a new container each time I want to update the version of apache I have? This adds quite a bit of manual work. it gets worse if we have redis in another container and mysql in yet another container.

But people seem excited about this, so I'm curious if I'm missing something.

It could also be that I have like 100 servers each with a different unique snowflake application, and the people who are excited about this have 100 identical servers in a cloud environment.
