Question about using quotas in Linux (Debian)

Hi all,

I've got a server that is being used as a temporary file dump for users while we rearrange some other boxes. I'd like to be able to monitor disk space usage on my disk, and set limits for the folders per group. I've never worked with quotas before, and so far all I've run across is the quota package in Debian. Are there any other solutions available? Is there some better way?

Details about my disk: It is a RAID md device formatted with ext4, with various folders on it for departments (accounting, technology, etc.). I would like to limit, say, accounting to 20GB and no more.

Thanks Reddit!
