What happens to Ubuntu server?

Hi, I'm a sysadmin for a medium size organization. I already posted in Ubuntu subreddit but I would like to have much more broader point of view of this problem.

We use Ubuntu since 10.04 version and now that this release is going to be unsupported, we would like to upgrade every single server to Ubuntu 14.04 but there are too many bugs and we are forced to choose to stay with 10.04 or upgrade to 12.04.

What I would like to ask is: why Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is so buggy?

Just to name a few:

• no more useful "service networking restart" command working

• samba memory leak after default installation

• bug in realmd

...and so on

It seems that no one really care about...why?

Have you see any other problem in Ubuntu 14.04 regarding server installations?

Is Canonical maybe too busy to build a phone OS instead of care about servers?
