Looking for Advice from wiser Admin senpai's

I'll preface this with, I hope that this is in the spirit of this sub-reddit as I lurk on this sub-reddit regularly and feel I don't have enough experience to provide insightful information to the point that I'd be happy with on most occasions. If it's not, please let me know and I'll attempt to remove the actual post so that I don't take up unwarranted screen real estate.

I've been working with Linux(and general IT) for about a year now as a web server technician and feel I grasp most of the basics of working with command line thoroughly. I've completed several scripts to automate daily tasks like creating full site/database backups as well as gained a proficient set of troubleshooting skills.

I'm in a rut and have done everything that the current employer I am with has afforded to me. I'm to the point where solving most lower level admin related issues is not a problem, even with the limited access I have(terrible security policies). I'm stuck on third shift and there are not many jobs relating to this field in my town.

I'm at a weird crossing between being a technician and an admin. The admin team here hates me mostly and leaving here after a year would not afford me with the experience most companies ask for.

I'm really at a loss for what to do, most of my learning was self taught and getting this job in the first place was a miracle.

tl;dr - Sob story of some Linux padawan trying to be a Linux jedi asking for advice.

Thanks in advance for anything you guys have to say, I'm to the point where the constant overwork and underpay has made me want to up and leave this place regardless of the obviously awful circumstances of being unemployed and having a bad reputation with any future employer that my current employer would talk to.
