I know very little about this, so bear with me, but I really want to learn.
I want to have a phone system server. I want to put a card with analog phone line inputs on it.
I want to be able to do voicemail, call recording, and some other fun stuff.
I also want to be able to route out to our sip server provider for non-private-network calls.
I currently have kamailio installed, which i got working with soft phones across my network. kamailio doesn't seem like it does everything I want. It seems some people pair it with asterisk.
- Could I just use asterisk to do what I want to do?
- What are some alternatives to asterisk that will do what I want?
Again, I am new to this and want to learn more, so I apologize if I didn't use the right terminology when writing this.
Thanks in advance.
Update: Great responses guys! I love the discussions too! Looks like Asterisk is going to be my solution.
