i know that for something like windows i'm stuck with HVM, but i'm hoping that i have more options here.
i have a dev who wants an ubuntu VM with a GUI desktop, so i am looking at options. i did an HVM install of the desktop OS, and also did a paravirt install of the server OS and then added the desktop packages. Both seem to work although the HVM seems a bit slow and buggy over VNC.
i don't see any reason why i should be limited to a hvm install for the desktop version, it's essentially the same installation process. is there a way to do a paravirt install of the desktop OS?
EDIT: can i convert a HVM to PV? since you no longer need a special kernel to run paravirtualized on xen, it doesn't sound bad, but can't find anything current about that.
